It is better to work out the lengths between openings to a half bale, and cut the bale nearest the post to size.  If you were to try and work out all gaps to exact bale dimensions you find it is very difficult to find a bale exactly the right length which fits perfectly.  After all bales are not a uniform size, which work out mm perfect!  By cutting the bale nearest the posts you can always ensure a tight fit.
