Unfortunately last night the air temperature dropped to about 2 degrees and we experienced a ground frost.  To be honest we had not been expecting this as we are approaching the middle of May.  Lime mortar needs to be protected from frost and should only be laid when the temperature is 3 degrees and rising.

This evening we noticed cracks starting to open up in the mortar bed, which we are a bit concerned about and will keep a close eye on.
